The Weekly Passport
Issue #43
The Weekly Passport is Back!
Last week, something special happened in San Antonio—our first-ever Juneteenth Passport launched, and the community showed up. The passport lives on as a 6-month discount book that keeps your dollars flowing through community businesses across the city. That’s cultural preservation in motion.
And while we’re talking about movement…
This week on The Layover Podcast, we’re crossing the Atlantic to catch up with Rhiane Fatinikun, founder of Black Girls Hike UK. What started as a prescription for healing became Europe’s largest hiking collective for Black women. Her story? Pure inspiration.
Lets dive in!

CULTURE SPOTLIGHT
She Built The Largest Black Girls Hike Group in Europe!

Imagine being told by your doctor to hike—literally—as a prescription for your wellness. That’s how one of the women in Rhiane Fatinikun’s Black Girls Hike group in Europe described her conversation with her doctor. After years of suffering chronic depression and mental wellness challenges, she joined Black Girls Hike and started to feel and do better. Her doctor’s response, keep hiking! Today, Rhiane leads the largest Black women hiking group in Europe and is helping thousands reconnect with the outdoors.
We sat down with Rhiane for our latest episode of The Layover Podcast, and she dropped gems on nature, healing, and Black women's right to take up space—on trails and in the world.
