3 Tips To Have A Healthy & Happy Fall Season
Fall can give you warm fuzzies with the air filled with spices of pumpkin and the warm color of falling leaves. However, fall can also feel like a reminder of the mundane elements of life as you wait for the big “time-off” holidays to return. Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years can’t get here quick enough! Or maybe you’re a Halloween lover like us.
Regardless of your fall mindset, it’s important to remember that each season gives you a chance to make changes to better your life - reflect on what’s working and what needs to change - turning over a new leaf - literally.
Here are three tips to help you along your reflective journey:
GET OUTSIDE - Fall is a great time to reconnect with nature giving yourself the opportunity to sit amongst the leafless trees, flowing rivers, or sit in the warm amber leaves on the ground reflecting or meditating on your year so far and what you envision the rest of your year to be like. As mental wellness expert, Sabriya Dobbins, suggests your home can also be a great place for stillness and reflection.
BOOST YOUR PHYSICAL WELLNESS - Fall is the time to finally whip out the cranberries, papaya, and blackberries, all opportunities to replenish your Vitamin C levels. Additionally, according to the U.S. National Institutes of Health, Vitamin A is also integral part of your immune’s systems effectiveness. So, Grandma’s yam recipe is not so bad for you after all. Sweet potatoes, carrots, squash, and many other fall favorites are packed with Vitamin A you need to stay healthy this fall season. Visit blackpeoplerecipes.com for some delicious fall recipes.
REPLENISH YOUR SOULD WITH RELATIONSHIPS - Reconnect with friend you may have not spoken to throughout the year. Fall is an important time to rebuild and develop connections before winter, as historically, it’s the season of loneliness. If you fortify those relationships early on, then it could help ensure you have a community for the winer holidays. One way to assess what parts of you life need replenishment is using the “Wheel of Life.” You may not know what area you are struggling in, but this tool provides context for the areas of life that make up for your overall state of well-being. Check out the “Wheel of Life” tool here.

Social Media Food Critic, Keith Lee, Brings Impact and Blessings to Atlanta Restaurants
During his recent food tour stop in Atlanta, food critic, Keith Lee, caused a bit of a social media storm with his reviews of the Atlanta restaurant scene. While some commended Keith on his honest and downright “we have to better” reviews of Black-owned restaurants, some of the owners of those establishments didn't take kindly to his critique.
However, during his Atlanta tour, Mr. Lee stopped by the black-women-owned Jamaican restaurant, Juci Jerk and dropped a blessing on the owner to the tune of matching her sales for that day! The story goes that Mr. Lee called the restaurant just before they closed at 11 PM to place his order and the owner kept the doors open an hour past closing time to prepare the takeout order. She had no clue it Keith Lee who was about to walk through her doors. Keith shared his appreciation by matching her sales for the day and sharing his experience with his 14.5 million Tik Tok followers.
As my mom likes to say when one receives something good in life “Won’t he do it!”
