DETROIT’S BLACK-OWNED WINE SCENE

Any wine or champagne lovers out there? On your next visit to Detroit, you must visit House of Pure Vin.

HOUSE OF PUR VIN

House of Pure Vin is a Black-owned wine and champagne shop centrally located on historical Woodward Avenue, in the heart of Downtown Detroit.

We love that they’ve partnered with Claudia Tyagi, 1 of 3 Master Sommeliers in the state of Michigan, to curate their vast wine and champagne selection.

House of Pure Vin is owned by Detroit natives Regina Gaines, Terry Mullins and Andrea Dunbar. Besides being a minority-owned business in heart of downtown, House of Pure Vin’s opening is important because of its contribution to the resurrection of that strip of Woodward.

Look at those bubbles!

Sitting in the heart of Detroit on a beautiful sunny day toasting a glass of bubbly with your friends is a peak “We made it in life moment!” Or, at least, a really cool vibe. Highly recommend!

TRAVEL NEWS
NO TRANSPARENCY, MORE FEES

Kenan Thompson Reaction GIF by Saturday Night Live

A federal appeals court on Monday temporarily blocked new Biden administration rules requiring airlines to disclose fees for things like checking bags and changing flights that can boost ticket costs. A three-judge panel of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 5th Circuit sided with major airlines and a trade group, which challenged the rule, finding that the Transportation Department “likely exceedED [its] authority” and that the rule “will irreparably harm airlines.”

How does this impact you - the traveler?

This ruling means travelers may continue facing hidden costs when booking flights. These undisclosed fees can significantly increase the total price of air travel, making it harder for you to budget accurately for their trips.

How can you protect yourself and save money?

To avoid unexpected costs, you should thoroughly research airline policies on baggage, cancellations, and changes before booking. Use comparison websites that include fee disclosures, and consider booking directly through airlines that offer clearer pricing structures. Always check for additional fees before finalizing your purchase to save money and prevent unpleasant surprises.
